The Department of physics is the oldest seat of learning and imparting knowledge of physics at the intermediate and graduate level in southern Punjab since 1960.The BS Program was offered in 2010. In 2013 department was merged in The Women University Multan. The Department has its own well-equipped laborites and lecture rooms. To improve knowledge there is a vast collection of books of physics in the main library.
The department is conducting teaching and experimental work at BS, M.Sc., and M.Phil., Ph.D. Levels. A well trained, dedicated faculty together with well-equipped laboratories makes this department one of the most accomplished departments. It is worth mentioning here, that a reasonable number of students and graduates from this department are working in prestigious organizations and serving the nation.
Research Group: Environment and Energy Development Laboratory
A higher degree in physics opens up new avenues of development for students. They can become scientists, researchers, teachers etc. The aim of department is to develop indigenous experts in the field of physics. This will increase employment opportunities for qualified students both in research and technical institutions of the country.
The candidates holding F. Sc. (Physics + Math) and age not more than 24 years are eligible for admission in BS (Physics). 2 marks will be deducted from percent academic marks for each late session to a maximum of two sessions, with condition to submit affidavit that applicant is not enrolled in any other institutions. Only female candidates having at least 50% marks in aggregate and 60% marks in Physics are eligible to apply.

The candidates seeking admission in M. Phil. program shall qualify the (department) entry test, by obtaining a minimum of 60% marks and must qualify an interview.
Only female candidates having sixteen years of education (BS/M.Sc.) with 2.5/4.0 CGPA or equivalent (semester system) or 55% marks (annual system) are eligible to apply for admission in M. Phil.
Students from other universities will need to obtain equivalence certificate before admission.

The candidates seeking admission in Ph.D. program shall qualify the (department) entry test, by obtaining a minimum of 60% marks and must qualify in Interview. Only female candidates having eighteen years of education (MS/M.Phil.) with 3.00/4.00 CGPA or equivalent (semester system) or 60% marks (annual system) are eligible to apply for admission in Ph.D.
