Department of Mathematics established in September 2013 is a core department within the Faculty of Science that aims to provide quality education to its students. Department of Mathematics has faculty specialized in both Pure and Applied Mathematics. The Department of Mathematics offers BS (4 Years) and M.Sc. (2 Years) programs. There is a computer lab to assist students in developing their computer science and programming skills.
The department also offers grooming opportunities to its students by offering a range of co-curricular activities and healthy sports and academic competitions. The department annually holds sports gala and annual dinner for its students as well as speech, naat and other competitions. Seminars and workshops are also offered to the students on a variety of topics.
The department vision is to uplift the programs in the national educational institutions and bring them on par with the international standards. Research and development is another core area in which the department wishes to achieve new heights. In future, the department is keen to establish linkages with the local and foreign institutions, encouraging long-term sustainable scientific collaborations.
Mission of the department is to provide quality education in the field of Mathematics at undergraduate and graduate level and to build confidence in students and to make them realize the applications and importance of mathematics in daily life as well as in other fields of science.
BS 4-year program is in parallel to those of Bachelor of Medicine, Engineering and Bachelor of Agriculture where top class students of intermediate class get admission after a thorough scrutiny. The BS scheme of studies aims to prepare graduate with enhanced skills, knowledge and attributes that will be needed for a successful career and professional accomplishment after graduation. The program focuses on the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to advance professionally in Mathematics and related fields.
